2023 Connecticut State Championship at Wesleyan University's Fayerweather event hall, November 12.

Funded and sponsored by the Connecticut State Chess Association, co-organized by the Wesleyan Chess Club (WCC) and hosted by Wesleyan University

GM Maxim Dlugy wins 2023 Connecticut State Championship with a score of 3.5/4 in the Championship section. 221 players participate in the biggest State Championship in Connecticut chess history. Special thanks to Wesleyan Chess Club President Collin Holson for his efforts in co-organizing the event!

GM Maxim Dlugy will hold a book signing between Rounds 1 and 2 at the 2023 State Championship this Sunday. More details to follow.

Wesleyan University President Michael Roth will make the ceremonial first move at the 2023 State Championship.

2023 Connecticut State Championship registration breaks all-time record. The tournament is at 149 participants and growing.

Oct 18
CSCA considering moving the 2023 Honors of the Connecticut Chess Community to the spring Hall of Fame event, due to earlier Championship time and six weeks of tournaments and activities still remaining in 2023. The larger Championship event and changes to the award ceremony also present a challenge for formal presentations on November 12.

Directing team for the Championship will include Senior TDs Ian Harris, RedBendit Chess and Frank DelBonis, Ocean State Chess Association.

CSCA expands State Championship will have a six-board live broadcast. Special thanks to NM Ian Harris, RedBandit Chess and CSCA Web Admin Gert Hilhorst for supplemental equipment and broadcasting services and web support.

Registration is open! CSCA puts forth a record $10,000 guaranteed prize in 32 placements for a single-day event and expands the tournament to six sections from three, including two time controls: G/55 d5 for Championship, U2200, U1700 and U1200, and G/25 d5 for U800 and NR (not rated). It will also be the first time that a non-rated section will be offered, to include players who are not US Chess members, making the event more inclusive of the larger chess community.
