Event News and Updates Dec 2 FM Kapil Chandran to appear by video from Chicago as special guest MC. Nov 30 Rod Groff of Play More Chess Academy and the Hamden Chess Club will join the event staff as Assistant TD. Nov 19 CSCA announces 2021 Annual Honors of the Connecticut chess community. Awards will be presented between rounds of the State Championship. Among the honorees are Rob Roy (CSCA/Coventry Chess Center), Christopher Potts (Norwalk Chess Club) and Hamden Chess Club. See complete list. Nov 18 Top Senior prize added in Open Section, includes trophy, book and clock awards. Nov 18 Book and clock award distribution finalized for Open Section. Nov 16 GM Nico Checa, now attending Yale, will play. Nov 15 GM Hans Niemann will join the event live from Dubai, to participate in the awards ceremony. Nov 15 CSCA plans to broadcast top boards live during competition over the CSCA website. Nov 12 GM Sergey Kudrin and FM Yoon-Young Kim will participate. Nov 12 In appreciation of the Connecticut chess community, the CSCA plans to hold special award presentations during the event. Details to follow soon. Nov 10 Senior TD NM Ian Harris, founder/owner of RedBandit Chess, will direct the event as Chief TD. Nov 10 Wesleyan University Chess Club agrees to co-sponsor and host the event at Wesleyan's Exley Science Center. Special thanks to Vibhuv Reddy, WCC President, for all the work in arranging event venue! This may be the first time that the State Championship will be held in Middlesex County.
