Simsbury Open Scholastic Go & Chess Championship
Saturday February 8th 2014 at the Simsbury Public Library
Saturday February 8th the Simsbury Library Chess & Go Club will organize the 1st Simsbury Open Go Championship.
Players from out of town are also invited to join us.
This document describes the section for Go only. Chess players can visit our web site for information about their sections.
There will be one section:
1) Championship, open to all players age 18 and lower
Everyone will play 5 rounds. Time control is based on 30 minutes per player per round.
The first round starts at 10:30 am, we expect to finish around 4:30 pm.
Please bring a set and a clock if you have one.
There is no entry fee. However, you have to be a current member of the American Go Association (AGA).
We will register the results with AGA so the tournament will be rated.
Our tournament director will be Michael Scudder.
In case you are not familiar with AGA Go tournament rules or if you have never played with a clock before and are a little nervous about it, we will organize a small warm-up meeting.
This will be held Wednesday February 5th from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm in the Discovery Room in the Library. This would also
be your last chance to register for the regular entry fee.
Join us there if you'd like.
There will be trophies for the first three individuals. Nobody will go home empty handed.

A basic pizza lunch plus drinks will be available. More food and drinks are available accross the street at Fitzgerald's Supermarket and Peaberry's Coffeeshop.

Please tell us if you need a bye for one of the rounds.
There will be a house player so everyone will have a game even if there is an odd number of participants.
