Byes: Scholastic players can opt for 1/2 point bye for the last round of the night

Oktoberfest Open Chess Championship

Games: 5-SS Open G/75;+30 U1600 (TBD) G/60;d5
Sections: Open, U1600
Byes: 1/2-point byes must be requested before Rd 2; no last Rd byes
Entry: $20 members; $35 non-members
Prizes: 70% of entries returned in cash prizes (1st-3rd, class)

Tournaments - General Information

Tournaments are open to the public, and equipment is provided by NBCC unless stated otherwise.

Tournaments generally begin at 7:00-7:15 pm on Tuesdays.

NBCC members enjoy reduced tournament entry rates.

NBCC tournaments are USCF-rated (United States Chess Federation) unless stated otherwise, and they require an active USCF membership (separate from NBCC membership). Click here to join.

Blitz and some quick tournaments take place on a single date, while longer-time-control tournaments are spread out over several weeks.

Member Perk: Chess lecture before games (Tuesdays, 6:15-7:00 pm).
