The CSCA is a volunteer-run statewide 501(c)7 organization and State Chapter to US Chess.
Our goal is to encourage and promote chess activity statewide, regardless of one's affiliation. The CSCA is responsible for
sponsoring and holding or arranging for annual State Chess Championship events. The CSCA also has delegates who can represent
Connecticut chess nationally at the annual US Chess Delegates' Meeting.
The CSCA's operating budget is used for such things as securing prize funds and player conditions for State Championship events,
giving financial and material support to chess clubs around the state and offering reduced or free US Chess memberships to scholastic
players. Most of the membership fees, donations and tournament revenues go to these core activities.
Every member 17 years or older has voting rights at the Board of Directors' election at the Annual Meeting. Note that voting rights
of each member do not take effect until ten days after acquiring membership. This rule does not apply to (1) parents of scholastic
members who have acquired membership through tournament play outside of this period, and (2) renewal of current memberships. A list
of current CSCA members can be found here: CSCA member list.
